Synterra Group of Companies, the national communication carrier of Russia provides a comprehensive range of telecommunication services to national corporations, public structures, corporate customers, communication operators, content providers and private users in the territory of Russia and the CIS countries, Baltic States, Europe and Asia.
Companies of the Group hold licenses to provide data transmission services, telematic services and to provision intercity and international telephone circuits all over the territory of the RF and local telephony services in 40 regions of the RF.
Synterra Group infrastructure is present in all the regions of Russia: the digital terrestrial backbone network is over 75.5 km long with over 40 satellite access nodes commissioned in 13 regions. It serves as a basis for SDH/DWDM, IP/MPLS, intercity and international telephony networks, Data Processing Centers and Call Processing Centers. International cross border junctions and partnerships with major carriers in the CIS countries, Baltic States and Western Europe, Mongolia and China enable the Company to ensure high quality data transmission in the Europe-Asia route.
Synterra is a party to innovation-based projects in the field of info-communication technologies designed to gain access to new markets and make use of new opportunities for the Group business development, such as GRID technologies, cloud computing, media and content services, WiMAX and SaaS.

The staff of the companies of the Group numbers about 2,000 people. The offices of the Group are located in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Murmansk, Kaliningrad, Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, Volgodonsk, Rostov, Kazan, Samara, Pskov, Petrozavodsk, Velikiy Novgorod, Vyborg, Tomsk and Voronezh.
Synterra is also working extensively in the sphere of telecommunication services providing to government institutions.
In 2007 alone Synterra was engaged in governmental projects such as the National Priority Education Project for providing Internet access to over 52 thousand educational establishments of the Russian Federation, support of the integrated message processing center of the Direct Line with Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, building the network and providing services for the pilot and reserve areas of the Presidential Library named after B.N. Eltsin, establishment of the telecommunication infrastructure for the state system of new generation passport and visa documents. The Company also participates in the development of telecommunication infrastructure for the Russian Mail.
Among the clients of the Companies of the Group are the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and legislative bodies of RF constituent territories, the Supreme Court and the Accounting Chamber of the Russian Federation, control and accounting bodies of the RF constituent territories, the Federal Treasury and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, etc.
