40*40 program

 ЗАО Synterra JSC is realizing 40x40 Program for establishment of the national network of the centers for processing, storing and distributing information. />

 

 The program is the continuation of the Company’s strategic line for development of the content-oriented infrastructure in the Russian Federation. 40x40 Project is a link for all constituent elements of the Company’s infrastructure: trunk line, long-distance line, IP/MPLS data transmission network, partner project for development of the regional infrastructure for broadband access to WiMAX mini-network..

 

 Within the project, the Company is establishing the network of 40 centers for processing, storing and distribution of information (DPC) in major cities in all seven Russian Federal Districts 

Central Federal District:Moscow, Voronezh, Orel, Tver, Tula, Yaroslavl, Ryazan, Vladimir.

Southern Federal District: Rostov-on-Don, Mineralnuye Vody (Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk, Essentuki), Stavropol, Krasnodar, Sochi, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Volgodonsk.

North-Western Federal District: Saint Petersburg, Archangelsk, Murmanks, Kaliningrad.

Volga Federal District: Samara, Nizhniy Novgorod, Ufa, Izhevsk, Perm, Kazan, Ulyanovsk, Cheboksary, Saratov.

Ural Federal District: Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, Surgut, Noyabrsk.

Far East Federal District: Khabarovsk, Vladivostok.

     

Schedule of opening centers in 2008-2009.

 

 By the end of 2009 Data Processing Centers will be opened in 25 cities.

 

 The initial area of   a DPC brought into operation (raised floor) -  200 sq.m.

The basic engineering characteristics are as follows::

• 4-level security system (secured territory and entrance to the building, pass system, closed gates and video surveillance system);
• uninterrupted power supply, including standby UPS providing 30 minutes of autonomous work for the DPC and an emergency generator (with a capacity of 750 kW and 10 hours without refueling);
• climate control with air conditioning, supply and exhaust ventilation of N+1 system;
• smoke screening and control of harmful gases in the air;
• gas fire extinguishing system with environmentally safe inactive gas.

 

 The engineering system are monitored locally (at the automated work station of the duty staff) and distantly from the Management Center of Synterra Network in Moscow. Each DPC is equipped with:

• Energy supply monitoring system (inputs, UPS, diesel generator set, diesel generator set control).
• Process equipment energy consumption.
• Climate control system monitoring and management.
• Engineering systems of the building.
• Fire alarm and gas fire extinguishing systems.
• Close cable TV video surveillance .
• Security system.

 On the basis of the monitoring data, the system for collection, processing, storage and presentation of information is formed.

 

 The centers are closely connected with the Synterra telecommunication infrastructure with the total channel capacity of 40 Gbps, which guarantees high quality of reservation and availability of services.

 

Customers may place in the DPC:

• their own servers (in Synterra cabinets. Units locked with a key with the dimensions of 600x800 mm);
• their own cabinets (acceptable dimensions are 600х800, 800х800 and 600х950 mm. The cabinets shall be locked by key).

 

Customers will be able to get from the DPC the following services:

• Internet access, IT transit;
• VPN access;
• long-distance and international communication lines;
• Synterra long-distance and international telephone communication;
• Synterra Call Centre 24/365 in three locations.

 The project is intended for a wide range of clients with needs for outsourcing of IT infrastructure within the country: communication service providers, corporate federal and network clients, content and application designers, IP TV providers and television broadcasting companies and state authorities responsible for ICT projects.
