The concept of the Service of Mediadata Logistics (SML) is a comprehensive approach to technical solutions, integrated projects and service packages for television and radio broadcasting companies and other participants of the mass media market. It covers all aspects of activities with media data, including media flows and media files. 

The main SML functions are as follows:

• delivery to the networks of television broadcasting and media file distribution (point-to-point and point-to-multiple-points) in LIVE and STORE&FORWARD formats;
• transformation of TV-formats, interfacing of systems of various types and generations;
• formation of traffic flow and software packages;
• interaction with content management systems of television and radio broadcasting companies;
• technical control of transmitted signals;
• packaged services with basic services provided by our partners;
• establishment of service channels, additional sound and control channels.

The technological basis for SML services and solutions is the Television Switched Network (TVSN) based on the Company’s own resources and adjoining networks of our partners.

TVSN uses various technologies and three segments – Moscow, regional and foreign. The Moscow segment is a large network for data exchange between Russian and foreign mass media working in Moscow. The Moscow TVSN segment services are provided today to over 50 leading Russian and international television and radio broadcasting companies and press agencies, including First Channel, VGTRK, NTV, TVC, STS, Mayak, Ekho Moskvy, Russkoye Radio, Nashe Radio, RIA Novosti, Interfax, VVC, CBS, TF1, Reuters, etc. Interstudio exchange may be effected in almost any format – analog, digital, with or without compression, etc.

The regional segment of the network provides interaction with major Russian cities and is based on the trunk network of Synterra group and its partners. The TVSN foreign segment is used for delivery of Russian TV stations broadcasting to foreign distribution networks as well as for interstudio exchange between Russian and foreign television and radio broadcasting companies.

One of the major elements of the TVSN is the Switching Center located in Ostankino. The close location of the Switching Center to the Television Center with studios of most leading TV stations and to the Rostelecom switching center and RTRC are important advantages.
